Warriors: Bluestar by Catnipkitty99 Warriors: Bluestar by Catnipkitty99
edit* added added a few more details, improved shading and other things

Hehe, so I finally got around to doing some warriors fanart. and I decided to do bluestar, with a test of complex backgrounds, im not particularly proud of this peice, so if somone could give me a few pointers as to were I can improve, I would be forever grateful!
And you may have noticed, I did this in more of an anime style, rather than realitic.

and im sorry to everyone who is waiting for art from me, I sorta got distracted and decided to do some personal art, hope nobody minds!

Made with paint tool sai
a few effects in ps cs2
took around 3 hours(I kept on changing my mind on the colors and brushes)

I think youve spent too much time on things that shouldnt matter yet.

I suspect your main time went into colouring and trying to figure out what to do with this character you had drawn.

My advice is for you to stop colouring for the time being and focus on drawing. Your character looks fine actually but the perspective on the scene is off and the way it was painted is too "easy". I think instead of painting the scene or colouring it you should draw out the entire image first, grass and all. It would be best if you drew your scene with proper perspective, put your character in doing his action, elaborate and add lots of details and fun things. Then once your drawing is complete and your happy with it, start colouring it. My process is this same one, except after Im done colouring it I start to paint on top of it to turn it into a painting.

When it comes to things like grass, draw each one. Dont use a spray grass brush, its pointless to do. You left pretty big gabs around these dark patches of grass but it would look better without them all together. Just a few indications of grass. If you were painting with acrylic or something you wouldnt have a grass brush, you would use your brush to paint grass. I know this seems like a lot of work but if you do it this way you will feel much better about your work and it will turn out better in the long run!

Im not sure if this helps but if you do that I think youll find yourself building better images from now on.

Bluestar seems like a young leader, being very childish of herself by sticking her paw in the water, almost as if she wanted a day to herself.
Her fur does seem to be a bit too furry, since she is a kinda thin-haired cat. Her eye is perfect, having the best amount of shine.
The tree does seem a bit blurry, I don't know if you have a specific reason for that, but the grass is perfect also.
The water is perfectly shaded, showing the waves perfectly.

IT IS INCREDIBLY AWESOME! Bluestar will always be the best leader in the world.
